19 Most Romantic Getaways in Atlanta (And Nearby!)

Need a break from routine and the chance to reconnect with your special someone? Step away from it all (without actually leaving the city too far behind) at these romantic getaways in Atlanta.

I’m letting you in on ATL’s steamiest secrets, with a list of fabulous accommodations practically made to be enjoyed as a pair.

From bougie bed and breakfasts to chic urban hotels, I’ve got a little something for every kind of couple.

After all, Atlanta is a hub for dining options, entertainment, and culture, and a staycation is the perfect opportunity to see it with fresh eyes. (And yes, it is one of the most romantic getaways in America!)

My personal picks: 19 Most Romantic Getaways in Atlanta

Keep reading to get the lowdown on all the best getaways in Atlanta for couples, including swoonworthy suites, special offers for two, onsite date night ideas, nearby attractions to explore, and so much more.

1. Hyatt Regency Downtown

Clean, comfortable, and located in the heart of downtown, the Hyatt Regency consistently serves up an excellent couples’ staycation.

Settle into plush accommodations, or get out and explore city attractions right at your doorstep, like Centennial Olympic Park and World of Coca-Cola.

I recommend the Deluxe Suite for its king bed, spa bathroom, and stunning views of the Atlanta skyline from three different outdoor balconies.

For date night, few romantic getaways in Atlanta offer quite the extravagance of Polaris, the iconic rotating rooftop and incredibly romantic restaurant and lounge that tops the Hyatt Regency.

Here, foodie pairs will be absolutely spoiled for choice with a seasonal, chef-driven menu featuring upscale Southern fare, craft cocktails, and tons of local ingredients (including honey from the onsite apiary!). Advance reservations are recommended.

2. Callaway Resort & Gardens

It’d be easier to list the amenities Callaway doesn’t offer than everything that it does.

Nestled near the quintessential Southern small town of Pine Mountain, this indulgent, year-round resort in Callaway Gardens sprawls for a staggering 2,500 acres of outdoor fun.

Explore stunning hiking and biking trails, water sports on Robin Lake, a premier golf course, and the world’s largest artificial-made white sand beach all in one stay.

Even in the colder months, there’s plenty to enjoy. Pick pumpkins in the fall or marvel at a National Geographic-acclaimed light display around Christmas time.

When you need to unwind at the end of each action-packed day, the full-service spa will be waiting.

Book the “Massage Two Remember” for an unforgettable couples’ experience, then pamper yourselves with main/pedis, facials, and waxes before date night.

3. Holly House

Located just 1.5 hours from Atlanta, the tiny town of Hamilton seems like a different world. You and your special someone will feel instantly at home, especially in the oh-so-adorable Holly House.

This charming Victorian building was built in 1880, boasting an antiques-filled library, parlor, game room, and cozy dining room where you’ll enjoy family-style, homecooked breakfasts every morning.

If you’re traveling for a special occasion, like an anniversary, just let hostess Judy know, and she’s happy to serenade you on piano as you eat!

Of the property’s five suites, the Walton Romance Room is a must-book. Original pine floors, a candle fireplace, and the cutest queen bed…everything about this space is swoonworthy.

Should you manage to leave the B&B, this area is surrounded by state parks, lush green forests, and plenty of peace and quiet, making it easily one of my favorite romantic getaways near Atlanta for nature-loving duos.

4. Ellis Hotel

As downtown Atlanta’s only boutique hotel, Ellis brings together the convenience of a super central location and the hominess of a tailored-to-you stay.

Get in a partner workout at the state-of-the-art, 24-hour fitness club, indulge in the evening happy hour, or simply settle into one of their comfy rooms, all featuring “a palette of Georgia-inspired earth tones and sleek, stylish décor.”

For extra space to spread out, book the Executive Suite and enjoy city views, plus a living room, kitchenette, and dining table.

All that’s left to do is light a few candles, order room service, and spend quality time with your special someone.

The onsite Terrace Bistro is also an excellent option for date night, dishing up market-fresh, farm-to-fork cuisine and handcrafted cocktails.

Ellis is definitely one of the most romantic hotels in Atlanta!

I couldn’t make a list of romantic getaways in Atlanta without mentioning the ultimate name in luxury stays: Waldorf Astoria.

Located in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood, this spot is within walking distance of all the premier shopping and dining experiences of Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square.

But between a full-service spa, indoor pool, and private English gardens, I wouldn’t blame you if you hardly wanted to leave the property.

Pamper yourselves pre-date night with detoxifying baths, body scrubs, and hot stone massages in a chic, airy couples’ spa suite.

Then, head to the oh-so-elegant onsite restaurant, Brassica, for French classics with a Southern twist.

If you want to keep things going after hours, the Brassica bar promises a warm, intimate atmosphere and knowledgeable bartenders pouring up photo-worthy craft cocktails.

6. The Starling Midtown

The Starling labels itself as a “vibrant, upscale escape for creative souls who set the status quo aside,” so you won’t find the standardized suites of other getaways in Atlanta for couples here.

As far as accommodation, I recommend booking the Skyline King

With a cozy loveseat, spacious bed, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Piedmont Park and Stone Mountain, this space is the perfect setting for a romantic stay.

If you want to go all out, the Buckhead Suite takes things up a notch: a separate living room and powder room, an intimate dining space, and a spa-style bathroom complete with an air jet tub for two.

For date night, check out live local DJs at the onsite lounge, Lantana, every weekend.

Or, for a more laidback evening, attend a Starling sax session held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the base of the grand lobby staircase.

Prefer your stay with a bit more personality? Look no further than The Darwin, one of my favorite romantic getaways in Atlanta, for its quirky decor, courtyard cocktail bar, and prime location between Central Park and Ponce City Market.

Choose from one of the custom suites for an extra playful touch.

This upscale hotel features movies, music, a library, and glam night-out-themed accommodations, as well as more classic digs.

Wherever you end up bunking, The Darwin’s Romance Evolution package is designed to send sparks flying during your stay, adding on a bottle of champagne, a sweet welcome treat from an Atlanta artisan, and a $15 breakfast credit.

You’ll definitely use it because mornings here start with small-batch,  single-origin coffee and pastries baked fresh daily. Yum!

Among the world’s most recognized restaurant names, you’ve definitely heard of Nobu before.

But did you know that they also boast a new hotel? (And that it happens to be one of the most romantic getaways in Atlanta?)

As one might expect, this property is sleek, stylish, and over-the-top luxurious.

Make sure to pack a snazzy outfit or several because the obvious choice for date night is a sushi dinner.

Since you’re already splurging, go all the way with a stay in the Yuhi Suite.

Between an indulgent king bed, Japanese-inspired artwork, and a soaking tub for two, this is the perfect space for couples.

Reserve the Romantic Hideaway package at Barnsley Resort for a charming cottage stay, daily breakfast for two at the Woodland Grill, and rose petal turndown with a bottle of sparkling wine on your day of arrival.

On an evening out, it doesn’t get much better than the 15th-floor rooftop restaurant Spaceman, where you and your partner can indulge in indoor/outdoor lounge seating, shareable plates, and lively events.

When it comes to romantic getaways in Atlanta, this one is a big name. At the Four Seasons, you know you’ll be greeted with impeccable service, gorgeous accommodations, and amenities galore.

Let’s start with the full-service spa, where you and your date can pamper yourselves with exclusive, expert treatments.

Book healing massages, facials, seasonal specials, and more. By the time date night rolls around, you’ll both be glowing!

This spot’s Midtown location places attractions like the High Museum of Art, Peachtree Street, and Piedmont Park right at your doorstep. However, an onsite date at Bar Margot is just as appealing.

15. Hamilton-Turner Inn

Savannah is a city steeped in history, romance, and absolutely irresistible Southern charm, so it follows that at least a few of my favorite romantic getaways from Atlanta ought to have this storied spot as a backdrop.

So as one of Savannah’s most historic luxury hotels and the USA Today Readers’ Choice winner of “Best Romantic Hotel” for four years running, Hamilton-Turner Inn is a no-brainer.

French Empire architecture and lavish common areas abound in this former private residence built in 1873—it’s truly a historic location.

You and your loved one can cozy up for chef-prepared breakfasts every morning and wind down with wine + hors d’ oeuvres pairings every evening.

For the ultimate couples’ getaway, reserve the romance package, which includes a three-course dinner, private carriage tour, floral arrangements, and a bottle of champagne.

This 4-star hotel is a short walk from Forsyth Park, where you can go for a romantic walk with your partner.

Oh, Tybee Island is only half an hour’s drive from here.

16. The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds

While ATL is a fabulous city, I also had to highlight a few romantic getaways from Atlanta that swap the bustling downtown for lush landscapes and resort-like stays.

The first takes us to Greensboro, which is just 1.5 hours from Atlanta but feels like a world away.

You’ll be treated to the best in lakeside luxury at a property that feels like a cozy lodge, but with all the world-class amenities and service you’d expect of a Ritz-Carlton.

Indulge in a wine and cheese tasting at The Club Lounge, stoke some friendly competition at one of 5 championship golf courses, or hit the water.

Summers are excellent for tandem kayaking, while ice skating is super romantic in colder weather–but you can find here many other fun activities for couples.

For couples, I recommend one of the Lake View Fireside Suites, which feature panoramic views, luxury king beds, and–the cherry on top–private terraces where you can cozy up around your own outdoor fireplace.

Found in the adorable, Bavarian-style alpine village of Helen, this charming stay easily claims its spot on any list of the most romantic getaways near Atlanta.

Valhalla boasts plenty for couples to do. Find your bliss at Solasta Spa, work up a sweat over tennis or bocce ball, or head to some nearby North Georgia hiking trails to enjoy all the natural beauty this area has to offer.

As for accommodations, the Presidential Suite is designed with a couples’ staycation in mind.

Luxuriate in a spa-style tub for two with complimentary champagne in hand, then spend each morning enjoying room-service breakfast on your oversized, private balcony.

Alternatively, their Chef’s Table package is ideal for foodie duos, including a bespoke, four-course dinner for two in Valhalla’s private dining space, as well as housemade chocolate truffles and bubbly upon arrival.

Brasstown is one of those romantic Georgia getaways that strikes the perfect balance: luxurious without being pretentious and boasting extensive amenities at a price that won’t break the bank.

It’s a popular wedding venue surrounded by stunning views of the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains, so you already know the atmosphere is made to send sparks flying.

The long list of outdoor activities in the North Georgia Mountains has something for every kind of couple, from more adventurous excursions like whitewater rafting and horseback trail riding to classics like golf, tennis, and bird watching.

Once you’re tired out, prep for date night with a visit to the Equani Spa, where you can indulge in body treatments, facials, soothing massages, and healing rituals indigenous to the Cherokee people.

19. Chanticleer Inn

I might have saved the best of my romantic getaways near Atlanta for last with this one.

The Chanticleer Inn is a breathtaking B&B that balances all the hominess of a family-owned stay with the luxuries of a premier property.

It’s tucked away in the lush lands of Lookout Mountain, about 2 hours from Atlanta and just 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.

Stay in one of their European-style stone-faced wall cottages, made extra cozy with whirlpool tubs for two, gas fireplaces, and plenty of places to snuggle up.

If that’s not delightful enough, there’s a whole page of romantic packages to choose from, boasting add-ons like champagne, homemade truffles, fresh seasonal flowers, engraved keepsake glasses, and more.
